Organisation Background:

Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training

INSO provides daily support to more than 1000 NGOs operating in 16 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is registered in the Netherlands with its headquarters based in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice

INSO Somaliland Founded in 2015, the program recognizes the insecure operating environment all NGOs face in Somalia/Somaliland and the collective value of enhancing safety preparedness and support through the provision of specialized, coordinated, and focused safety management support. The Program supports 164 NGOs with a presence in Somaliland, and the other regions under Somalia.

Job Summary Under direct supervision of the Safety Advisor (SA), the Safety Advisor Assistant (SAA) is involved in information collection, verification, and data input into the Conflict Humanitarian Data Center (CHDC). They assist the SA and the Deputy Safety Advisor (DSA) with the development and management of the local information network and provide liaisons with NGOs using INSO services in the region.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must be Somali National
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English & Somali languages
  • University degree (Bachelor) in social sciences, humanitarian affairs, security or a related field, or a relevant practical experience.
  • Significant experience in insecure/conflict-affected environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of the region, understanding of geography, demography, and conflict dynamics.
  • Ability to periodically travel to other destinations in the region and beyond.
  • Experience in the humanitarian, and/or risk management and/or humanitarian access sectors.
  • A good understanding of NGO approaches to security.
  • A proven ability to develop and maintain working relationships with partners.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Windows, Office, SharePoint, and mapping software/applications
