INFORMATION OFFICER, HORN OF AFRICA (SOMALI NATIONAL)

LOCATION: HARGEISA

International NGO Safety Organization (INSO)- www.ngosafety.org  is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to join our Horn of Africa team as Information Officer based in Hargeisa, Somaliland.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Information Manager, the Information Officer (IO) is responsible for complete understanding of all Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC) data entry, capabilities, storage, and security. He/she is also an expert of the CHDC and the Partner’s Portal (IPP) and can facilitate partner registrations. The IO also provides technical support for creating visualisations and dashboards

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, GIS, or relevant field
  • Fluency in English and Somali languages, both written and verbal
  • 2 or more years of experience in data management and visualization, in a similar humanitarian organization and context
  • Experience with Power BI and DAX, or similar BI software (such as Tableau)
  • Knowledge of database management using SQL
  • Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to management of information in crises contexts.
  • Prior knowledge of Horn of Africa (Kenya and Somalia/Somaliland) context is an asset, working experience in this region a plus.
