Hargeisa (The Horn)-A meeting in Burao the Toghdeer regional capital brainstorming religious affairs in Somaliland saw participants wonder why Islamic law is not official in the country.
Acceding to Sheikh Mohamed Omar Dirir a prominent clergy specializing in law responding to participants queries the imperatives of establishing the law as the official one in Somaliland were not in doubt.
‘We have in the past made this urgings to various administrations in the country and we believe that time is now ripe Islamic sharia law in Somaliland’ he said
Stressing on the fact that the country was 99.9% Islamic based Sheikh Dirir said there were neither constraints nor hindrances to practicing sharia law officially.
